Monday, June 7th, 2010Capri Survey – Day 2
Monday, June 7th, 2010There was no Neapolitan breakfast today. We set off at 0730 for our first full day of survey work off Capri. Fewer pleasure craft today but numerous ferries to keep us company throughout the day, After deploying the fish we ran the first line of more than 20, starting with those closest to mainland Italy. The seabed topography is relatively regular but geological features make it difficult to pick out potential targets. Late in the day we detected an anomaly that may be an aeroplane dating back to the Second World War. Later this week we will be returning to the site so as to gather high resolution data from this site. We headed home in the early evening and were welcomed by David Scaradozzi from the University of Le Marche, who is here to consult us on our underwater photography via the ROV.
